My country ’tis of thee sure knows how to make itself look foolish on the grandest of stages at times. The hot topic of debate centers around “Government Shutdown 2013” and why the Democrats and GOP sling mud at each other at the expense of hundreds of thousands of lives. So much for bipartisanship. Yet, leave it to none other than the incomparable Jon Stewart to address the situation in ways only he (and Steven Colbert) can.
To be honest, I’m still trying to process the entire shitshow and instead of tweeting or running to Facebook with misinformed views, actually reading up on the debacle, the timeline leading up to what we see now and perhaps future implications is my method of action. Stewart, on the other hand, goes right for the Republican jugular and their alleged willingness to hold the government hostage due to their hatred of ObamaCare (despite it already being a law).
Even with the clip being seven minutes long, please believe it’s worth every damn second with enough quotables to give that Kanye interview a run for its money (pending you aren’t a staunch Republican or anti-ObamaCare). And just as food for thought, his last statement holds a dosage of truth that not many outlets seem to be discussing at the moment.
